I have to say that I love Costume Museums.
As a person passionate about art, history and fashion, I cannot think of a
better plan to enjoy and learn at the same time. I´m from Madrid, and I´m
really proud about our “Museo del Traje”, I have visit it several times, and
each time I discover a new style, new designer o new inspirations. But this was
the first time that I visit “Designers” Museums. I really admire Gucci brand,
but I´m conscious that when you discover the history of the brand you can
better appreciate the sense and the purpose of the new collections. Brands like
Gucci, with an amazing heritage behind it´s name inspire us to new ideas for
the future.
Walking through the different rooms of the
museum we can travel back in time in just a few minutes. The first leather bags
and suitcases make us dream of traveling around Europe at the beginning of the
century, just taking a look to the scarves from the “Flora” collection we can imagine
a beautiful and stunning Grace Kelly spending her vacation in the Riviera. But
if I have to choose the one that for me is the “it” garment from Gucci: The
loafers. Less is more, so a pair leather shoes decorated with a stirrup is
simple, stylist and elegant. In my opinion loafers are one of the sexiest
unisex shoes in Fashion history. Can be cool and trendy or at the same time
sophisticated and classic.
Loafers makes me think of Mick Jagger
walking around Carnaby Street in London in 1968 or the most elegant of the
buyers in the latest edition of Pitti Uomo. It's the best of fashion, playing
with the versatility of the clothes and above all ... mix&match!
